Turtley Awesome!

Sandy's Video:  G40, G94, G99
I watched Sandy's You Tube video on how to color this little turtle from Stamper's Best.  After watching it about five times, I colored three turtles with the Copic colors shown under the photo of my card.  I decided to try out some other green combinations based on Jennifer Dove's Color of the Day Copic combinations, which she generously offers up as downloadable tags.  So here are some variations for this little guy.
Lime:  YG03, YG17, YG67

Celery:  G40, G43, G46

Green Apple:  YG01, YG05, YG09
To make the card, I used a speech bubble die from Lawn Fawn, the sentiment stamp that came with the turtle, and added "You are" and the heart from Technique Tuesday.  The pattern paper is from Amercian Crafts 6x6 pad Feelin' Groovy.

I had a lot of fun making these and I'm grateful to Sandy and Jennifer Dove for sharing their knowledge and talents.

OWH Sketch Challenge 231

Love this week's Sketch Challenge 231 sketch!  I used a digi from Digi Stamp Boutique, Daisy, colored with Copics and papers from My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad, Tangerine.  The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts, All Occasions Messages.

Bugaboo Boy's Toys

I'm CASING a card I saw here using Bugaboo Stamps digis, Boys Toys, and Freshly Made Sketches #76.  I've used My Mind's Eye Playdate plaid paper, My Favorite Things label die with a sentiment from More Essential Sentiments, and Spellbinders square dies for my card.  The images were all colored with Copics with some Glossy Accents added for more dimension.

Missing You Mouse

Another little mouse from Meljen's called Penpal Mouse and a sentiment stamp from Technique Tuesday's set With All My Heart seemed like a perfect match so I used Bella Blvd. paper Shark Attack (the back side) and a banner die from Verve to make up six of these for OWH.

Abstract Thank You

I found some abstract patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket at my Local Scrapbooking Store in the clearance rack and decided to try and make some thank you cards out of it.  Each card will be slightly different since the pattern is random.  I used OWH sketch 205 for the layout and a sentiment stamp from Inkadinkadoo.

Missing You Lion

A cute little lion from Cleverly Cute Stamps digi set Love You Lots colored with Copics.  The layout is OWH sketch 46 and the papers are all from We R Memory Keepers which I recently found at Tuesday Morning.  The sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things More Essential Sentiments stamped with SU! Early Expresso ink.

Art of the Card Past Times

I've used Hero Arts Art of the Card Past Times set a few times already and I'm always really impressed by how nicely the images stamp.  I decided to make a few masculine missing you cards with the glider image using some SU! Always Artichoke ink and cardstock.  The sentiment stamp is also from Hero Arts; it's from our OWH fundraiser set Right at Home. The pattern paper is from Authentique and I used Spellbinders Labels 3 dies.

Lil' Cowboy Love

My husband has asked me if I ever "just make a card" meaning without a sketch.  I thought that was an interesting question since I mainly use sketches.  I have started making some "diorama" type cards, which I am really enjoying, by making scenes with various dies.  So when I looked at this little cowboy from Bugaboo Stamps, I decided to use a die from Cuttlebug's Love Language for the word love and let his horseshoe be the you.  I had to ask a friend to look at my card to see if the "love you" idea came through and she saw it right away, thank goodness!  The red plank paper is from a My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad - I used both sides and embossed the bottom with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I'll probably make a few more of these for our Heroes to send home to their own little cowboys.

OWH Sketch 228

Late again with OWH Sketch 228.  I used some papers from Simple Stories Harvest Lane, trimming down a tag to make the sentiment panel.  The sentiment stamp is from Verve's You and I set stamped with SU! Expresso ink.  Heart dies are from Spellbinders.

Lil' Hoot Bears

OK, I'll admit it.  I'm totally obsessed with the Hero Arts Lil' Hoots bears.  I love coloring them, cutting them out and placing them in different locales.  I have even bought some dies to help makes scenes for them, though, I've lagged on that scenario for right now.  This card is a CASE of a card Sandy made here.  I used a different saying and I wasn't going to include the heart, but.... due to some black marker jumping onto the orange portion when I was outlining the interior of the circle for that piece, I needed something to cover up the mark.  The orange plank paper is from My Mind's Eye On The Bright Side 6x6 paper pad.

Of course I had to make even more little bear cards from my favorite sketch as well, so here is another card using OWH sketch 217, some papers from Hot off the Press Geometrics, and My Favorite Things Fishtail dies.

It's pretty exciting to know that dies have come out for this set and for the Missing You set that I also have been using again and again.  I may have to start saving my money and get the dies to help make a little army of all these cute characters!

OWH Sketch 49

One of OWH's older sketches, OWH49, has turned out to be one of my favorites.  I especially like placing foiled paper on the vertical background panel for some added shine.  For this card, I colored a digi, Love Bug Mouse, from Meljen's with Copics and used some papers from my stash combined with the dotted, foiled paper from DCWV's The Great Vacation Stack. I also used some Glossy Accents on the hearts and headlights to add bit more shine and texture.

OWH Sketch Challenge 229 and OWH Our Daily Bread June Challenge

I've been using my Martha Stewart butterfly punches to punch butterflies out of scraps of K&Co. floral paper just because I like the way they look.  This week's sketch challenge 229 prompted me to make this card out of some of the larger ones. I spent the morning distressing the edges of all the butterflies I've accumulated with SU! Expresso ink so I can make similar cards in the future. The background paper is also by K&Co., the circles are Spellbinders dies and the sentiment stamp is from Verve's You and I.

I'm also entering my card into the June Our Daily Bread challenge where we are to make a card using dies or punches.

OWH Sketch 215

Thought I'd try this sketch, OWH sketch 215, and loved it so much, I made another version.
First card details:  dollar bin image stamp, Cloud 9 stripe paper, Technique Tuesday sentiment stamp, MFT Fishtail Flags dies.

Second card:  All the same except the image stamp is from Stampin' Up Walk in the Wild colored with Copics.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge - BBQ Time!

What's a BBQ without S'mores!  This week at Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog, the Midweek Throwdown Challenge BBQ Time! features a fabulous tutorial on how to create a hamburger with various dies.  I'm a total fail with things like that, so I took the optional challenge which was to make a card featuring BBQing.  I used a digi from Doodle Dragon Studios and colored him with Copics. Papers are from Echo Park's 6x6 pad Happy Camper and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things Flopsey Goes Camping.  I also used this week's OWH sketch 227 for the layout.

Well, it's back to finishing up some of the multiples of the cards I've just posted.  Hope your day is going great and thanks for visiting my blog!

Dreaming of You

At some point in time, Sandy mentioned that the sentiment on this card from our Hero Arts fundraiser set, Right at Home, could be used for missing you cards.  I paired it with a silhouette stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps' Landscape Silhouettes set using papers from Crate Paper's 6x6 pad Farmhouse Collection.  The sentiment is on My Favorite Things Fishtail Flags dies.

Missing You in the Wild

To further fill half my OWH box with missing you cards, I used Stampin' Up's Walk in the Wild's moose stamp colored with Copics.  I did a little masking on the stamp itself to take the image out to the edges.  The image's background paper is from Recollections and has a bit of a mottled look to it.  The stripe paper is from reminisce's Longitude collection and the sentiment stamp is from Technique Tuesday/Ali Edwards Missing You set. The image and the sentiment were stamped with Stampin' Up! Early Espresso ink.

Authentique Missing You

Yet another missing you card.  I used OWH sketch 186 and papers from Authentique's Strong paper pads.  The sentiment stamp is from Jillybean Soup and I used a Spellbinder's heart die.

Miss You Three Ways

I love this stamp from Paper Inspirations that I found on e-Bay.  I can't have enough missing you stamps!  I made about 18 cards in three different versions.  This one uses papers from K&Company.  I stamped the sentiment on a portion of the cardstock that didn't have an image.

The next set of cards uses papers from My Mind's Eye All Spice 6x6 pad and some shell die cuts from K&Company.

For the final set I used more K&Company papers.  The sailboat portion is foiled so there is some glare from the lights.

OWH Sketch Challenge 227

I made two cards using the layout from Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge 227. The digi is from Doodle Dragon Studios colored with copics.  Other items: Basic Grey Life of the Party papers, My Favorite Things Fishtail Flags dies, and a sentiment from Paper Smooches Circle of Honor set.

Variation on the sketch:
For the second card, I turned the image panel on its side to fit the digi also from Doodle Dragon Studios and colored with Copics.  Other items:  Recollections plaid paper and Paper Smooches Circle of Honor sentiment.  I also put Glossy Accents on his eyes for a bit of dimension.
