Flying a Kite

Another kid card featuring Cuthbert Bear from Pollycraft digitals, colored with Copics.  Paper is from my stash and the red is dry embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folder Hugs & Kisses.  I used OWH sketch number 1 for the layout.

A Card for Suzanne

Operation Write Home's family of card makers lost a member, Suzanne H., recently.  Suzanne was an OWH Featured Friday Cardmaker last year in June, and Sandy has asked us to pay honor to the wonderful cards Suzanne made by CASING one of the cards from the post.  I CASED this card:
I used a stamp set from Unity called Daisies and Tulips and colored the image with Copics.  The dot paper is from BoBunny's Double Dot collection.  The heart is a Spellbiner's die colored with Copics.

I will be linking my card to the post at Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog as a tribute to Suzanne and all of her wonderful cards and her giving spirit.

Naughty Puppy

Using the same layout as a previous card I made using a Sylvia Zet digi, I made some cards with an image from her Naughty Puppies set.  He's colored with Copics and the sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts, dot paper from Basic Grey's Life of the Party, and the white background has dry embossing from Cuttlebug's Spots n Dots embossing folder - though it barely shows up in the photo.

Playful Kitten

I really like Sylvia Zet's images, in stamp form they are Wee Stamps.  Luckily, she sells some of her digis on Etsy, so I bought some of them since I thought they'd make some nice kid cards for our Heroes to send home.  This card features one of the kittens in her set Playful Kittens colored with Copics. The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts, paper is from Basic Grey Olivia, and the circle/scallop circle/scallop border are Spellbinders dies.  I also embossed the background with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots embossing folder in honor of the awesome Tools of the Trade tutorial about embossing folders at Stars & Stamps.  It was a huge help to learn about paper grain!

Mother's Day Cards

I didn't take time to post the cards I made for Mother's Day as I made them this year, but I wanted to post them now since I sent my box off last Friday.  I didn't even post my Midweek Throwdown card using the theme of circles, and I realized after I posted my box that I forgot to take a picture!  Ah well...

Instead of creating a separate post for each card, I decided to make one giant post, I hope it doesn't get too long.

Supplies:  Sentiment computer generated, Mojo Monday sketch 194, papers from Dove Craft Garden Party, Spellbinders scallop/circle/scallop circle dies.

Supplies:  Sentiment computer generated, OWH sketch 141, papers from Basic Grey (dot background) and American Crafts, Spellbinders circle dies.

Supplies:  Recollections sentiment stamp, K&Co. papers, Splitcoast Stampers sketch 416, Lifestyle Crafts oval dies.

Supplies:  Sentiment computer generated using Designer Digitals brushes from Ali Edwards Mom Word Art, My Mind's Eye Collectables papers (12x12), QuicKutz doily die, My Favorite Things Fishtail Banner die, Spellbinders Labels 1 and Labels 1 small dies, Sketchbook Saturday Challenge sketch 110.

Supplies:  Dotties sentiment stamp, paper from My Mind's Eye Sweetest Thing, Spellbinders Labels Four and Labels Four Small dies, Memory Box Pippi butterfly dies.

Supplies:  Sentiment computer generated using brushes from Designer Digitals Ali Edwards Mom WordArt, digi from PcCrafter artist Laurie Furnell's collection Birds of a Feather colored with Copics, Recollections dot paper.

Supplies:  Tag is from a pre-colored collection from Daisy Co., I printed the starfish again, cut it out, and glued it on top for added dimension, the sentiment portion was created using digital brushes from Designer Digitals Ali Edwards Mom WordArt, woodgrain paper from MME, Cuttlebug embossing folder Mesh was used on the crosspiece, CandiDot colored with Copics (I later changed it to blue).

Whew!  I also realized that I had another card go out the door without a photo, but it was a slight remake of a card I made last year, so I can't share it on this post.

Thanks for sticking with this long set of cards.  Have a great day!

OWH Sketch Challenge 217

When I saw this week's OWH Sketch Challenge 217, I knew exactly what card I wanted to make.  Papers are from My Mind's Eye About a Boy and Reunion paper pads.  The image and sentiments are from Hero Arts Lil' Hoot.  I colored the bears with Copics and used My Favorite Things Fishtail Banners dies for the sentiment panel.  I also put some Glossy Accents on their eyes for added dimension.

OWH Sketch Challenge 216

I'm still making Mother's Day/Mom cards for my OWH box of cards.  This week's OWH Sketch Challenge 216 gave me a great sketch to use some paper I've been keeping for Mother's Day cards and to use a new-to-me stamp I found at a scrapbook store garage sale.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad Honey-The Sweetest Thing, the sentiment stamp is from Darcie's, the border element is a Martha Stewart border punch, the background is dry embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folder Textile, and the oval/scallop oval dies are from Spellbinders.

It's raining and after dinner, so I'm back at it to get the other seven duplicates of this card made.  I'm almost to the end of my next OWH box which I'm sprinting to the finish to do so I can get it out the door by Wednesday.

Hope your day is going great and thank for visiting my blog.

Cards in Envy Challenge - Think Green!

I'm pretty faithful in checking out sketch and design challenge blogs, but I rarely get cards done for them in a timely manner. I'm usually in the midst of some other set of cards (I get crazy sometimes and make three different card designs at once), so it's really fun to be able to enter my card into the current challenge at Cards in Envy - Think Green!  I've been making quite a few Mother's Day cards and I made a dismaying discovery that they were all primarily pink or red and floral. The Think Green! challenge gave me some direction in finding another type of color palette to use. I dug around in my stash and found this background paper in My Mind's Eye paper pad On the Bright Side. Not only was it green, but no flowers!  Yay!   I used Hero Arts Shadow Ink Soft Olive to stamp the Verve image, Abundant Blessings, and the sentiment (Hampton Arts, I think).  My layout is Mojo Monday sketch 270. I used a Spellbinders scalloped edge die and the circle dies are from Spellbinders and Lifestyle Crafts.

I'm really please with how this card turned out - in fact the paper pad has the same paper only in orange, so I'm thinking about recreating this card in that color too.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.  It's sunny outside, so I think I'll get some sun before I get back to my craft table.

OWH Sketch 49

Operation Write Home Sketch 49 is among my favorite sketches to use.  On this card I was able to cut a portion of the designer paper which featured a tag and use it for the sentiment panel.  All of the papers are from My Mind's Eye and the sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts.

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

I had two 12x12 sheets of this paper from Basic Grey residing in my stash for at least two years now. It was part of a 12x12  pad of paper that I have neglected to use even though I like it a lot.  I was pretty surprised and delighted to see it in there because I had forgotten all about it.  I've seen cards on Pinterest and on various blogs that use speech bubbles and here I had some paper just waiting to be used!  All of the sentiment stamps are from Paper Smooches and every card has a missing you sentiment, so even though they vary in looks, each one of the 12 cards I made will go into the missing you portion of my OWH box of cards.

OWH Sketch 184

I finally got a card done for OWH sketch 184.  Papers are from Carta Bella, the sentiment stamp is from hero Arts OWH fundraiser set, Blessings to You, and I used Spellbinders circle dies.

OWH Sketch Challenge 214

I'm totally in love with this week's OWH Sketch Challenge 214.  I have been struggling around trying to think up an idea to use those awesome papers that feature a sampler of the patterns contained in a paper pad.  I've made some similar cards to this layout, but it just never occurred to me to use the sampler pages.  Well, now I have an awesome sketch plus a visual reminder in my OWH sketchbook to help me use up these papers!  I also really love the wide crossstrip shown in the sketch.  I decided to use a banner and a heart in that space instead of a ribbon.

I look forward to making bunches of cards using this sketch because I briefly checked my 6x6 pad hoard, and most of them have this type of paper.  Yay!  (Because cutting and straight are not exactly my strong point - so nice to have it already done!)

Papers are from DCWV Naturals mat pad, Hero Arts sentiment stamp, Spellbinders and MFT Fishtail Banner dies.

Our Daily Bread Designs March Challenge - Thank You

The March Our Daily Bread Designs challenge is to make a thank you card.  I've been wanting to make this card for awhile, but had never taken the time to plot it out.  This month's challenge gave me a good excuse to have a go at it.  The sentiment and image stamps are from Hero Arts and the pattern paper is from Basic Grey.

It's wonderful to know that Our Daily Bread Designs is continuing their support for Operation Write Home by providing the shipping for a large flat rate box for every 50 cards, up to 2 boxes (100 cards), that we post for the challenge.   Thank you Our Daily Bread Designs for your generosity!
