OWH Sketch Challenge 245 and Mid Month Throwdown Challenge Card

I made this card for OWH Sketch Challenge 245 and for the Mid-Month Throwdown Challenge - Miss You.  Papers are from BoBunny's Timepiece 6x6 pad and the stamps are from Hero Arts All the Time Fundraiser set.

I had originally made the following card for the sketch challenge, so I thought I'd add it to this posting just for fun.

Papers are from My Mind's Eye, stamps are from Paper Smooches Chubby Chums and the heart die is from Sizzix.

December ODBD Challenge - Primary Colors

Our Daily Bread Design's December Challenge for OWH is to make cards using primary colors, which are red, blue, and yellow.  It was pretty tough coming up with some paper until I found this one by reminisce in my stash. The Mickey Mouse stamp is colored with Copics and the sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo.  The heart die is from Stephanie Barnard/Sizzix.  I used OWH sketch 144 for the layout.

Stella Says Sketch #220

Love Stella Says Sketch #220 at Bugaboo Stamps' blog and I'm entering my card into their sketch challenge.  I used a fairly recent digi called Girl Puppy Love, which I colored with Copics.  The sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things, as is the Fishtail Flag die.  The border punch is from Fiskars, and the paper is from My Mind's Eye.

Bugaboo Stamps is having a 50% off sale through the end of December, and I have been adding to my gigantic collection of their images.  I've resolved to limit my duplicates of colored images to two, but I immediately broke that resolve and made three more of these in different shirt colors and accent dp's. Ah well, the best intentions fall before how much I just love this image.  It reminds me of how my doggies hug me, especially my two 90 pounders!

Here are the other cards:

More Winter Love from Sassy Cheryl

Using the same layout as my prior card, I colored up the digi, That's Hot Max, from Sassy Cheryl with some copics and used a sentiment stamp from TPC Studios and a heart stamp from Technique Tuesday.

Bugaboo Winter Love

A winter love card for my next OWH box featuring a digi from Bugaboo Stamps colored with Copics. The sentiment stamp is from Impression Obsession and the paper is from My Mind's Eye.

OWH Red Friday Bloghop

Instead of Black Friday, at Operation Write Home, Sandy decided to celebrate our Heroes with a Red Friday Bloghop to encourage us to make some love cards for them and share a card we've made that was inspired by the hop.  I was inspired by all of the red, white, and black and decided to make this card which features pink instead of red.

Papers for my card are from Basic Grey's Out of Print line, stamps are from Hero Arts, the border die and vertical die are from My Favorite Things.  I stamped the flower head on heavyweight cardstock and cut it out for a bit of dimension.

OWH November Our Daily Bread Challenge - Hearts

The November Our Daily Bread Challenge at Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog is to use hearts.  I made a masculine card using paper from The Paper Loft and a sentiment from Technique Tuesday's set With All My Heart.  The hearts are made from Spellbinders dies and the border was created with an EK Success punch.

Many thanks to Our Daily Bread for their continued support for Operation Write Home.  ODB pays for shipping for two large flat rate boxes if we post 50 cards for their monthly challenge.  Looks like my card will be number 49 this month, so only one more card to go!

OWH's October Challenge from Our Daily Bread Designs

Operation Write Home's October Challenge from Our Daily Bread Designs is to make non-Christmas cards using snowflakes.  I used a stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Winter Fox colored with Copics and OWH sketch 22 for the layout.  Papers are from a recent garage sale from my local scrapbook store.  The snowflake was made from a punch from Martha Stewart and accented with a Candi dot adhered with Glossy Accents.

Thanks for visiting!

Our Daily Bread Designs August OWH Challenge - Stars

The August challenge for Operation Write Home from Our Daily Bread Designs is Stars.  We've been challenged to use stars on our cards.  I decided to try out an idea that I've never gotten around to since I found a group of Stampin' Up! stamps at Goodwill.  The stars stamp I used on this card is dated from 2000 - old stamp with a new technique.  At least a relatively new technique!  I stamped the stars with Versamark ink onto some heavyweight watercolor paper.  After using clear embossing powder and heat setting them, I used Ranger Distress Ink faded jeans applied with a dampened sponge applicator.  I was dismayed to see the color clump up in places.  However, all became well once I then immediately used a new baby wipe to clean off the stars and watched in amazement as the blue moved around beautifully and came off the stars with no problem.  I then applied Ranger peeled paint distress ink to the bottom portion also with a dampened sponge applicator and the ink flowed beautifully across.  I decided to make the little girl out of watercolor paper as well, so I used my watercolor pencils and a water brush to color her.  All black ink is Versafine.  I also used a little bit of green watercolor pencil to accent the top of the hill and blended it in with the waterbrush.

Almost forgot!  I used the OWH fundraiser set from Mama Elephant called In My Heart.

Moose You

I adore this moose from Hero Arts OWH fundraiser set, Missing You.  I used Freshly Made Sketches #134 for the layout and paper from WeR Memory Keepers, plus circle dies from Spellbinders.  I also added some Glossy Accents to the eyes.  And because my background paper was 12x12, six of these are ready for my OWH box!

Kid Cards in Blue, Yellow, and Green

This card is the last of my summer cards since the July 31st deadline is fast approaching for these types of cards for OWH.  The image is a digi from Cleverly Cute Stamps called Pinwheel Brigitta colored with Copics. The pinwheel paper is from Bella Blvd. and the dotted is BoBunny.  The sentiment stamp is from Penny Black, circle dies are Spellbinders, and I used OWH sketch 134 for my layout.

I made a boy-themed card and without realizing it at the time, ended up using the same color palette as my girl card. The image is also a digi, but it's from Lilyboo Designs/Cuddly Buddly and it's colored with Copics. The sentiment stamp is from Technique Tuesday Say It Hugs, papers are from WeRMemory Keepers Feelin' Groovy 6x6 pad, circle dies are Spellbinders, and I used OWH sketch 306 for the layout.

Pink and Grey

We recently had a pink and grey color challenge at OWH and I made this background to use with the elephants from Hero Art's Lil Hoot set.  I didn't like how the elephants looked, so I set aside the pieces for this card and finally decided to use a digital image from Lilyboo Designs (from Cuddly Buddly) and color her with my Copics to go with the papers.  I used OWH sketch 217 and a sentiment stamp from Heidi Swapp/Pink Paislee which I recently found at Micheal's.  I used MFT Fishtail Flags dies for the sentiment.

Thank You Cards in Brown

I wanted to make more thank you cards for OWH, so I made some cards using this SU! Lovely as a Tree image stamped off once in Early Expresso and a sentiment stamp from Verve's set Celebration of Thanks.  The paper is from Basic Grey's Little Black Dress using both sides.  Dies are Spellbinders circles and MFT Notched Border.

To make this card, I used Lunaria from Magenta and one of the thank you stamps from PaperTrey Ink's Keep it Simple Thank You Stamp Set.  Both are stamped with Ranger Walnut Distress Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used SU! Crumbcake cardstock for the background.

Double Duty Card

Miss you card with a masculine feel using OWH sketch 123.  Papers are from My Mind's Eye Spice 6x6 paper pad.  The heart die is from Spellbinders and the banners are My Favorite Things Fishtail Flags dies.  The sentiment is from Verve's Take Note stamp set stamped in SU! Always Artichoke.

I try to make a lot of masculine looking cards for OWH, so this month when I checked in at Splitcoast Stamper's Cards for a Cause July Mission, I just knew I had to contribute.  The July 2014 cause is for the VA hospital in Wilkes-Barr, PA and card donations are being requested for vets receiving treatment there (click the July Mission for a full explanation).  I knew I had already created two other missing you card that could easily be converted to birthday cards (the two cards here).  I should have my box of OWH cards finished by the end of this week, so next week I will focus on more birthday and thank you cards for this wonderful July mission.

Here is my card modified for a birthday theme:

Some Thank You Cards

OWH is in need of more thank you cards than usual, so I made some fairly simple cards using some Darice papers from JoAnn's.  The sentiment stamp is from PaperTrey Ink and the border is SU! Crumbcake cut with a MFT border die.

For this orange card, I used a poppy stamp and die from MFT stamped with SU! Tangerine Tango and paired it with a sentiment stamp from Technique Tuesday.  The white upper is cut with a Spellbinder's die.

UPDATED July 18, 2014
Just for fun, I went ahead and made more cards using the same Darice patterned papers in the other colors that came in the package.

This card uses another Spellbinders curved border that comes with the set.  The flower is a stamp and die set from Hero Arts, Butterflies 3, inked with Momento Dew Drop inks in  Grape Jelly and Bamboo Leaves. The sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink's Thing Big Favorites #19.

I didn't use a stamp and die set for this card like the others, instead I used a floral stamp from I Brake for Stamps inked with Momento Rhubarb Stalk and fussy cut it by hand.  The sentiment stamp is from Penny Black's set Flower Gallery.

My last card uses SU!'s stamp and die set Secret Garden stamped with SU! Wild Wasabi ink and a sentiment stamp from PaperTrey Ink's Keep it Simple: Thank You Stamp set.

It was a lot of fun figuring out different looks for each color.  Since the patterned paper was 8-1/2x11, I made four of each card with a combined total of 20 virtually-the-same card for my next OWH box.

Miss You Cat Peeker

Eureka! Stamps has some cute digi images which they also sell as rubber stamps.  I recently purchased a few digis from them including this cute little cat peeker.  The sentiment stamp is from Paper Smooches and the little hearts are the punch outs from a Verve border die which I glued on (twice! because I had a fail with my Zyron) and then added Glossy Accents so they were shiny.  Papers are from My Mind's Eye Collectable-Unforgettable 6x6 paper pad, and I used an EK Success border punch.

After making four of these, and because I liked how the card came out, I made four more using Basic Grey Olivia 12x12 two-sided paper.

Turtley Awesome!

Sandy's Video:  G40, G94, G99
I watched Sandy's You Tube video on how to color this little turtle from Stamper's Best.  After watching it about five times, I colored three turtles with the Copic colors shown under the photo of my card.  I decided to try out some other green combinations based on Jennifer Dove's Color of the Day Copic combinations, which she generously offers up as downloadable tags.  So here are some variations for this little guy.
Lime:  YG03, YG17, YG67

Celery:  G40, G43, G46

Green Apple:  YG01, YG05, YG09
To make the card, I used a speech bubble die from Lawn Fawn, the sentiment stamp that came with the turtle, and added "You are" and the heart from Technique Tuesday.  The pattern paper is from Amercian Crafts 6x6 pad Feelin' Groovy.

I had a lot of fun making these and I'm grateful to Sandy and Jennifer Dove for sharing their knowledge and talents.

OWH Sketch Challenge 231

Love this week's Sketch Challenge 231 sketch!  I used a digi from Digi Stamp Boutique, Daisy, colored with Copics and papers from My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad, Tangerine.  The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts, All Occasions Messages.

Bugaboo Boy's Toys

I'm CASING a card I saw here using Bugaboo Stamps digis, Boys Toys, and Freshly Made Sketches #76.  I've used My Mind's Eye Playdate plaid paper, My Favorite Things label die with a sentiment from More Essential Sentiments, and Spellbinders square dies for my card.  The images were all colored with Copics with some Glossy Accents added for more dimension.

Missing You Mouse

Another little mouse from Meljen's called Penpal Mouse and a sentiment stamp from Technique Tuesday's set With All My Heart seemed like a perfect match so I used Bella Blvd. paper Shark Attack (the back side) and a banner die from Verve to make up six of these for OWH.

Abstract Thank You

I found some abstract patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket at my Local Scrapbooking Store in the clearance rack and decided to try and make some thank you cards out of it.  Each card will be slightly different since the pattern is random.  I used OWH sketch 205 for the layout and a sentiment stamp from Inkadinkadoo.

Missing You Lion

A cute little lion from Cleverly Cute Stamps digi set Love You Lots colored with Copics.  The layout is OWH sketch 46 and the papers are all from We R Memory Keepers which I recently found at Tuesday Morning.  The sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things More Essential Sentiments stamped with SU! Early Expresso ink.

Art of the Card Past Times

I've used Hero Arts Art of the Card Past Times set a few times already and I'm always really impressed by how nicely the images stamp.  I decided to make a few masculine missing you cards with the glider image using some SU! Always Artichoke ink and cardstock.  The sentiment stamp is also from Hero Arts; it's from our OWH fundraiser set Right at Home. The pattern paper is from Authentique and I used Spellbinders Labels 3 dies.

Lil' Cowboy Love

My husband has asked me if I ever "just make a card" meaning without a sketch.  I thought that was an interesting question since I mainly use sketches.  I have started making some "diorama" type cards, which I am really enjoying, by making scenes with various dies.  So when I looked at this little cowboy from Bugaboo Stamps, I decided to use a die from Cuttlebug's Love Language for the word love and let his horseshoe be the you.  I had to ask a friend to look at my card to see if the "love you" idea came through and she saw it right away, thank goodness!  The red plank paper is from a My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad - I used both sides and embossed the bottom with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I'll probably make a few more of these for our Heroes to send home to their own little cowboys.

OWH Sketch 228

Late again with OWH Sketch 228.  I used some papers from Simple Stories Harvest Lane, trimming down a tag to make the sentiment panel.  The sentiment stamp is from Verve's You and I set stamped with SU! Expresso ink.  Heart dies are from Spellbinders.

Lil' Hoot Bears

OK, I'll admit it.  I'm totally obsessed with the Hero Arts Lil' Hoots bears.  I love coloring them, cutting them out and placing them in different locales.  I have even bought some dies to help makes scenes for them, though, I've lagged on that scenario for right now.  This card is a CASE of a card Sandy made here.  I used a different saying and I wasn't going to include the heart, but.... due to some black marker jumping onto the orange portion when I was outlining the interior of the circle for that piece, I needed something to cover up the mark.  The orange plank paper is from My Mind's Eye On The Bright Side 6x6 paper pad.

Of course I had to make even more little bear cards from my favorite sketch as well, so here is another card using OWH sketch 217, some papers from Hot off the Press Geometrics, and My Favorite Things Fishtail dies.

It's pretty exciting to know that dies have come out for this set and for the Missing You set that I also have been using again and again.  I may have to start saving my money and get the dies to help make a little army of all these cute characters!

OWH Sketch 49

One of OWH's older sketches, OWH49, has turned out to be one of my favorites.  I especially like placing foiled paper on the vertical background panel for some added shine.  For this card, I colored a digi, Love Bug Mouse, from Meljen's with Copics and used some papers from my stash combined with the dotted, foiled paper from DCWV's The Great Vacation Stack. I also used some Glossy Accents on the hearts and headlights to add bit more shine and texture.

OWH Sketch Challenge 229 and OWH Our Daily Bread June Challenge

I've been using my Martha Stewart butterfly punches to punch butterflies out of scraps of K&Co. floral paper just because I like the way they look.  This week's sketch challenge 229 prompted me to make this card out of some of the larger ones. I spent the morning distressing the edges of all the butterflies I've accumulated with SU! Expresso ink so I can make similar cards in the future. The background paper is also by K&Co., the circles are Spellbinders dies and the sentiment stamp is from Verve's You and I.

I'm also entering my card into the June Our Daily Bread challenge where we are to make a card using dies or punches.

OWH Sketch 215

Thought I'd try this sketch, OWH sketch 215, and loved it so much, I made another version.
First card details:  dollar bin image stamp, Cloud 9 stripe paper, Technique Tuesday sentiment stamp, MFT Fishtail Flags dies.

Second card:  All the same except the image stamp is from Stampin' Up Walk in the Wild colored with Copics.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge - BBQ Time!

What's a BBQ without S'mores!  This week at Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog, the Midweek Throwdown Challenge BBQ Time! features a fabulous tutorial on how to create a hamburger with various dies.  I'm a total fail with things like that, so I took the optional challenge which was to make a card featuring BBQing.  I used a digi from Doodle Dragon Studios and colored him with Copics. Papers are from Echo Park's 6x6 pad Happy Camper and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things Flopsey Goes Camping.  I also used this week's OWH sketch 227 for the layout.

Well, it's back to finishing up some of the multiples of the cards I've just posted.  Hope your day is going great and thanks for visiting my blog!

Dreaming of You

At some point in time, Sandy mentioned that the sentiment on this card from our Hero Arts fundraiser set, Right at Home, could be used for missing you cards.  I paired it with a silhouette stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps' Landscape Silhouettes set using papers from Crate Paper's 6x6 pad Farmhouse Collection.  The sentiment is on My Favorite Things Fishtail Flags dies.

Missing You in the Wild

To further fill half my OWH box with missing you cards, I used Stampin' Up's Walk in the Wild's moose stamp colored with Copics.  I did a little masking on the stamp itself to take the image out to the edges.  The image's background paper is from Recollections and has a bit of a mottled look to it.  The stripe paper is from reminisce's Longitude collection and the sentiment stamp is from Technique Tuesday/Ali Edwards Missing You set. The image and the sentiment were stamped with Stampin' Up! Early Espresso ink.

Authentique Missing You

Yet another missing you card.  I used OWH sketch 186 and papers from Authentique's Strong paper pads.  The sentiment stamp is from Jillybean Soup and I used a Spellbinder's heart die.
