A Tale of Two Dresses

Two dress themed cards I made using a really nice die cut from QuicKutz.  It's supposed to be a wedding dress, but it reminds me of prom formals and sundresses.  I saw this die and a bunch of other really great dies (this one was only $3.00) at Scrapbucks, and I bought some to try out some die cuts on my cards.  Since the other dies I bought were only $1.00, they weren't too much to risk.

  • Die cut from QuicKutz - Wedding Dress
  • Spellbinders dies
  • Martha Stewart border punch
  • Papers from K&Company paper pad Watercolor Bouquet (also purchased from Scrapbucks)
  • Love sentiment stamp from Hero Arts
  • Hello sentiment stamp from Micheal's or JoAnn's dollar bin
  • Sizzix/Tim Hotz embossing folder Damask
  • Cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots

Father's Day with Cheryl Alger

Cheryl Alger closed her site that featured her digis in colored format.  I took advantage of her closeout sale and bought a bunch of images.  This is one of them, - I think he makes a great Father's Day card!

  • Pre-colored digi from Sassy Cheryl
  • Sentiment stamp from Inkadinkadoo
  • OWH sketch 30
  • Spellbinders dies Squares and Grommet dies

  • Car background paper from Hot of the Press
  • Background panel from DCWV Heirloom stack
  • Spellbinders Sprockets die
  • Split Coast Stampers sketch 240

Missing You Like Crazy

I love Dustin Pike's critters that hold signs.  He usually has one in every monthly collection, and I decided a couple of months ago to use a sentiment from Create with TLC and combine the two for a set of cards to go in every box that I send to OWH.   This card will be my third in the series.

  • Image is a digi from Dustin Pike's Doodle Dragon Studios and is colored in Photoshop
  • Sentiment from Create with TLC
  • OWH sketch number 2

Penny Black Stamp

I love Penny Black stamps - her images are so cute.  Now that I have some Copic markers, I decided to buy a PB stamp and have a go at making a card.

  • Image and sentiment stamp from Penny Black
  • Fiskars edger punch
  • Copics

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge - Color Challenge

This week's color challenge at Operation Write Home is a color challenge to use brown and turquoise.  I made this card, and I have to admit the turquoise is a bit lacking, but since I am madly trying to get more cards into my box so I can ship it out on Monday, it will have to do.

  • Image is pre-colored digi from Shelly Comiskey's collection Gone to the Dogs available from Daisy Co.
  • OWH Sketch 16
  • Stripe paper from DCWV
  • Fiskars embossing plate Paws

OWH Sketch Challenge 117 and Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge 22

I made this card for two challenges.  It uses the sketch from this week's OWH Sketch Challenge 117 and I used the digi papers, image, and sentiment from the Doodle Pantry for their DPDC22.  I really like how it turned out - a quick card since the image came with the two coordinating digi papers!

Here is this week's OWH sketch:
  • Digi papers, pre-colored image, and sentiment from Doodle Pantry
  • OWH Sketch 117
  • Spellbinders circle dies

Moose and Jeep - No Squirrel!

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge - Father's Day!

Our Midweek Throwdown Challenge at Operation Write Home is to make a Father's Day card (link here).   I am using a pre-colored digi from Carolee Jones.  It's not available anymore from PcCrafter.  Carolee is selling some of her artwork at Daisy Co., so I hope this image and others will become available soon!  Daisy Co. has a great Angel policy and offers pre-colored digis at very reasonable prices.

ODB April Challenge for OWH - Include an Animal

Our Daily Bread continues with their generosity by sponsoring another challenge for Operation Write Home.  The April challenge (here) is to include an animal on our card.  I made a card last year using this image from Anne Fenton.  I didn't have any Copics last year, so I decided to re-make the card and color this lovely dog.  He came out beautifully thanks to the shading provided by the artist.  Anne has a blog called Anne's Cards 4 U.  She offers many free digital images for crafters and card makers.

  • Image from Anne Fenton through CDAC
  • Split Coast Stampers sketch 224
  • Copics E11 and E17
  • DP from DCWV Naturals matstack
  • Ribbon from Micheal's dollar bin
  • Spellbinders dies Labels 18 and Labels Small plus Labels Large
  • Sentiment computer generated (Font = CG Times)

Love You Card

I wanted to use OWH sketch 4 and I just couldn't come up with a card.  I was looking through my paper (big job!) and I found this DP in a matstack called Abrianna from K&Company.  I had some butterfly stickers from K&Company also and along with some glitter glue and Glossy Accents, I was able to add some dimension to a basic flat panel card.

  • Paper and stickers from K&Co.
  • Sentiment stamp from Fiskars
  • Spellbinders Labels 4 and Labels 4 small
  • OWH Sketch 4

"Hop Arts Designs at Hambo" Hoedown! and Cute Characters for OWH

I have made my card for two challenges:  "Hop Arts Designs at Hambo" Hoedown! and Cute Characters for Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps Midweek Throwdown Challenge.  I am really enjoying my Copic markers, and I'm showing the ones I used since I have learned so much by other bloggers posting this information.  Maybe my newbie efforts will encourage someone to try using them.  They really are very forgiving!

Thanks for visiting my blog.  I hope you have a great day!
I am adding these card photos to my blog because I made five more cards by coloring each girl differently.  I did not make note of the colors for their hair, but I can say that the girl with the yellow shirt has that same yellow under the brown and the girl with the orange shirt has orange under the brown in her hair.
