Michelle's Scrapbooking & More Challenge for OWH - Anything Goes!

Michelle's Scrapbooking & More is hosting a challenge for Operation Write Home called Anything Goes!   I made this missing you card using a pre-colored image from Carolee Jone's collection Gratefall Critters from PcCrafters.  I used a Verve sketch (VLVAUG2011 week 2) for my layout.  Designer paper is from K&Company's Alleghany Plum paper pad, cardstock is from JoAnn's, circle dies are Spellbinders, punch is Martha Stewart, and the stamp is from the dollar bin from either Micheal's or JoAnn's.   I distressed around the image with a bit of Ranger Ink antique linen to bring down the sharp contrast between the white cardstock I had printed my image on and the cream cardstock I used for the sentiment.

Hambo Hoedown 34 Challenge - Special Kind of Challenge

Since I never color my images by hand, I decided to try my watercolor pencils and see how this little image from Hambo Stamps would turn out.  I think he came out pretty well, certainly not as good as the more expert colorists I have seen on the web, but I think he looks pretty happy there with his bongo drum!

I made this card for the Operation Write Home Challenge being sponsored by Hambo Stamps called A Special Kind of Challenge.  Their images are so dang cute and their challenge is pretty awesome.

Some details:  Spellbinders Dies, OWH Sketch 71, papers from DCWV Stack 7, cardstock from JoAnn's open stock.

Thanks for looking, hope you like my card.  Comments are always appreciated.

OWH Mid-Week Challenge - Sweet Treats

This week's mid-week throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home is Sweet Treats.  I have been waiting to make a card with this great sentiment from Create with TLC since I downloaded it.  I paired it with a sundae from Laurie Furnell's collection The Soda Shop from PcCrafter.  I also used one of my favorite OWH sketches, number 53, and used some striped paper from DCWV and then regular cardstock dry embossed with Sizzix Hearts #4 and Cuttlebug's Divine Swirls.  I added some Glossy Accents to the cherry and the fudge swirl, and finished off my sweet card!

Thanks for looking, hope you have a sweet day!

OWH and Paper & Such Color Challenge

Paper & Such is sponsoring a Color Challenge for Operation Write Home.  We are to use the colors kraft, red, black or blue and any other neutrals.  What a great challenge for us!  I was really happy to get to this challenge because I had wanted to make a card for OWH sketch 86 and this card was in my head but just wouldn't come together so I could make it.  When I saw this challenge, something clicked and my card appeared!  Yay!!  I used a pre-colored image from Leere Aldrich's collection Stars and Stripes from PcCrafter.  The sentiment is cobbled together from the free word art from OWH

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you enjoy my card.

OWH Challenge Something Round Sponsored by Robyn's Fetish

Another great challenge at Operation Write Home is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish called Something Round.  I took a look at her site and there are definitely some digi stamps on my wish list!

My card for this challenge uses a pre-colored image from Renae Lindgren's collection Fall Harvest from Daisy Company.  I love this image and already have another layout planned for it next year (note to me:  Mojo Monday sketch 200!).  I used Splitcoast Stampers Sketch 306 for this year.  For anyone not familiar with Splitcoast Stampers, they have fabulous sketches and if you click my previous link, it will take you to their master list of sketches.  They even have PDF files for downloading of all their sketches with one card example for each sketch.

OWH Mid-Week Challenge A Bug's Life

I love Tammy DeYoung's artwork and her collection Baby Buggies from PcCrafter is one of my favorites.  Operation Write Home is running a challenge called A Bugs Life which gave me a chance to use this adorable image.

  • Spellbinders Wonky Squares Dies
  • Cuttlebug EF Swiss Dots
  • Sizzix Embossing Plate Crush on You
  • Cardstock from Micheal's and JoAnn's

Debbie Mumm's Green Garden-OWH Digi Challenge

There are many many great challenges over at OWH's Stars and Stripes blog. I am submitting this card for the Digi Challenge sponsored by Digi Doodle Shop.  I am not using one of their images, though, but I did buy some things from their shop by following the link on the OWH posting!

This card came from an idea from the blog Inspired By.  The original card has a stamped image, but since I use digital, my image comes from Debbie Mumm's collection Green Garden from PcCrafter.  I printed it on white cardstock and then added some Viva Pearl Pen dots where they appeared on the flowers.  I also used my Martha Stewart punch to punch out butterflies in coordinating cardstock.  Some Ranger distressing ink on the edges and dragged accross the butterfly gives them interest.  I created the sentiment in Photoshop and color matched it to the image.

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Challenge 7

Dixie at What's Next sponsored a challenge to make a non-traditional Valentine's Day card that could be sent for more than just Valentine's Day. While this card has some of the components of a traditional Valentine, I think of it as a non-tradtional one since it can work as a love you card for any time of year, and I think, a great anniversary card as well. The artwork is from Julie Jorgenson's collection Aged Card-Roses from Scrapbook Elements. The stamp is from Ink-a-dink-a-doo and is heat embossed.

Operation Write Home Virtual Cardmaking Party Challenge Numbers 4 & 5

To save some time so I can get back to making cards, I am going to post two cards for the next two challenges.  I  really enjoyed the party this weekend, and I want to do as many challenges as I can for the rest of this week.
Challenge 4 was Pick One and was hosted by Handmade by Julie  We were to pick a number at random and then use an Operation Write Home sketch of that number.  I picked number 19 and made a card from OWH Sketch 19.
The image is pre-colored from Jeriann Sabin's collection Autumn Harvest from PcCrafter.  Designer paper is from K&C Co. Alleghany Plum.  JoAnn's cardstock in paprika.

Challenge #5 was Falling For You sponsored by Scrapping with a Purpose.  We had to design a card with the theme of something falling.  I chose to use the theme of rain based on a wonderful bit of word art from Create with TLC.
Artwork is from Gina Jane Johnson's collection Early Spring from PcCrafter.  I used Fiskar's embossing plate rain to add a textured background to white cardstock and distressed it with Ranger Faded Jean ink.  Blue cardstock is JoAnn's and the rainbow and clouds are popped up with 3M double sided tape.

Operation Write VCMP #3 - Unique Christmas

Ha, this challenge has Dustin Pike written all over it!!  I love this image and had it in my lineup (in my head!) to make for OWH for a Christmas card.  Aren't those flamingos a scream?  I had to alter a digital paper from Gina Jane Johnson's collection Christmas Bears from Daisy Co. to have something go with that pink.  I used Dustin's pre-colored image, but I did bring down the color saturation a bit in Photoshop.  To help the Hero Arts heat embossed stamp show up more, I made a virtual velum by making a white box sized to accommodate the stamp and dropping the opacity until I was satisfied that the stamp would show up against the white background.  I don't usually print my own papers even though I have thousands of them from digitally scrapbooking because I don't want to use ink and I want to keep my cards as hybrid as possible by just using digital images.  To save ink, I only printed the stripes in the areas that they show since I was covering the middle area with a green cardstock (JoAnn's) anyway.

I made this card for Operation Write Home's Virtual Card Making Party (VCMP) Challenge  Unique Christmas sponsored by Paper Therapy Ponderings  Click my link and visit her blog; you will get to see some great cards.  Cards from the challenge will be posted here: OWH VCMP #3 to see even more great cards posted by OWH cardmakers.

I hope my card gives you a smile!  Thanks for visiting my bog.

I made this card for Operation Write Home's Virtual Card Making Party (VCMP) Challenge GARANIMALS sponsored by It Was Here a Minute Ago   Click my link and visit her blog; you will get to see some great cards.  Cards from the challenge will be posted here:  OHW VCMP Challenge #1 to see even more great cards posted by OWH cardmakers.  The idea of this challenge was to make a card for a child using an animal.  I used a pre-colored digi from Bev Luedecke's Playful Pets collection from Daisy Co.  I made it a miss you card because Sandy has been asking for them, I don't know the stamp manufacturer, but the stamp is heat embossed.  Striped paper is from a Micheal's Reflections paper pad.  The blue/teal cardstock is from DCWV Brights paper pad and the brown is from JoAnn's lightweight cardstock collection.  Circle dies are from Spellbinders.

I'm So Grateful Challenge at OWH

Another birthday month challenge at OWH is to make an I'm So Grateful card.  I decided to use a stamp from Ink-a-Dink-a-Doo since it expressed the challenge idea so well.  It is heat embossed in copper.  Background paper is from The Naturals Mat Stack from DCWV.  Dies are Spellbinders Labels 1 (original and small).  The cardstock is from Micheal's Refelctions line.

Thanks for looking!  Comments are always appreciated.

OWH Mid-Week Challenge - AUTUMN

With the virtual card making party going on at OWH Stars and Stripes blog today, I almost forgot to post two of my cards I made for other birthday month challenges.  This card is for OWH Mid-Week Challenge AUTUMN.
I used a pre-colored digi from Tina Ledbetter's collection Sweet Fall Pets from PcCrafter.  Papers are from my stash.  The stamp is Hero Arts and is heat embossed.  Gems are from JoAnn's.

Thanks for visiting my blog, comments are always appreciated!

Celebrating Nature

Fun virtual cardmaking party at OWH today.  This card is for Celebrating Nature.  I have had this stamp from Hero Arts for ages.  I finally made the card that has been in my head since I bought the stamp set.  The paper was already distressed looking - I think it was JoAnn's open stock paper.  I used Spellbinders Die Labels 8 to cut out the stamped image and black cardstock that I had already joined together.  I did all of the stamping with Color Box white pigment ink and heat embossed it with a-la-Mode clear embossing powder.  The kraft cardstock is from JoAnn's and is dry embossed with Craft Concepts Venus embossing folder.  I distressed the edges with some Momento black dye ink.

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge 85

I was completely not original with making this card for Opeartion Write Home Sketch 85 Challenge.  I have wanted to use this image for a long time, and hadn't come up with a good way to feature this woebegone kitty from Shelly Comiskey's Kitten Kaboodle  collection - pre-colored image from Daisy Company.  The card examples were just too good not to CASE, so here is my missing you card for OWH.  The polka dot paper is from JoAnn's open stock and the cardstock is from DCWV Brights cardstock pad.  The stamp is stamped in Momentos dye ink and heat embossed with a-la-Mode clear embossing powder.  The oval is cut from Spellbinder's mega oval dies and embossed.  The flower brads are from Micheal's Reflections line.  I dry embossed the "flag" with Cuttlebug EF Swiss Dots.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and comments are always appreciated!

We R Keeping an Eye on You Challenge

Sandy is still requesting love you and missing you cards, so I decided to make some cards featuring dogs and cats.  I made this card for the We R Keeping an Eye on You Challenge for Operation Write Home's Birthday Bash taking place for the month of September.  W R Memory Keepers is sponsoring the challenge and is offering a cool prize - a Cropadile kit!  How cool is that?!!

Card details:
Striped paper from DCWV Stack 7 mat pad
Blue cardstock from JoAnn's and dry embossed with Cuttlebug EF Scattered Hearts
Brads from Making Memories
Pre-colored clipart from Shelly Comiskey's collection Fur-Ever Friends from PcCrafter
Black cardstock from Micheal's
Stamp is from from stash and is heat embossed

Hope you enjoyed my card - thanks for visiting!

OWH Sketch Challenge 84

Operation Write Home Sketch 84 gave me an idea on how to use these tags from K&C Company.

The pink card has cardstock from DCWV Brights paper pad and the stamp is from my stash - I don't know who makes it - and is heat embossed with Pearl Lustre embossing powder.  The background cardstock is from JoAnn's and is dry embossed with Craft Concepts Budding Vine folder.

The green card has Reflections (Micheals) cardstock and was dry embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folder Textile.  I used Ranger distress ink to show the texture a bit more on the cream colored background cardstock.  The stamp is from Unity and is heat embossed.

Both cards have ribbon from JoAnn's.

Tiddly Inks Kiki

Tiddly Inks has the cutest digital stamps.  I became acquainted with a whole host of digital image sites once I started visiting the blog Free Digital Stamps.  I was really just looking for word art and flowers to print out on kraft cardstock so I could color them in with colored pencils.  Little did I know that I was going to become hooked on digital stamps and start using Photoshop to try my hand at some coloring!  I still prefer pre-colored art simply because I make multiples of each card and it is faster to use a pre-colored image.  This little guy, though, was very easy to do and I just love his little face and facial expression!  I hope he makes somebody's loved one feel special.

The particulars:  Striped paper from DCWV Stack 7.  Dies are Spellbinders Labels 3, popped up with 3M foam tape.  Embossing folder is Sizzix Hearts.  Cardstock and navy blue ribbon from JoAnn's.   Glossy Accents used on the eyes for a bit of dimension.

Hope this little guy gives you a smile!

CASE Challenge at OWH Stars and Stamps

We were challenged to CASE a card from this week's featured card maker on the OWH Stars and Stamps blog.  All of her cards were awesome.  I decided to CASE her first card.  I printed a sentiment from Elegant Word Art on the green cardstock and cut it out with Spellbinders Curved Rectangles, then distressed the edge with Ranger Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade.  DP is from K&C Company Best of Brenda Walton.  The bottom edges of that paper and the brown cardstock is cut with Tim Holtz On the Edge Die Brackets.  I used a semi-transparent ribbon from JoAnn's and used  EK Success stickers for the leaf accents.  All cardstock is from Micheal's Recollections line.

I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and look forward to making more sentiment only cards for OWH!

Thanks for looking and visiting my blog today.

OWH Mid-Week Challenge Anything But Glitter!

I made this card for Operation Write Home's Anything But Glitter challenge.  Sandy has need of missing you cards, so I used that as my theme.  The layout design is OWH Sketch 74.  The horses image comes from Clipart ETC and was black and white.  I colored it in Photoshop and printed it out on JoAnn's kraft cardstock.  I used the same kraft cardstock for the background, dry embossing it with a Sizzx embossing folder from Tim Holtz called Woodgrain and then distressing it with Ranger dark walnut ink.  It may not show up too well in the photo, but the black cross strip has been hand punched with a paper piercing design from Gem's Cottage.  I thought I'd try some punching instead of always falling back on another embossing folder for visual interest.  The ribbon is from Micheal's dollar bin and the brads are from Micheal's Recollections line.

Hope you like my card - comments are always welcome!

Pike's Playground Challenge - Yummy for my Tummy

Dustin Pike has a new challenge at Pike's Playground called Yummy for my Tummy.  The challenge is to use a food item.  I had two ideas, both using word art from Create with TLC.  I decided to go with a cupcake since I thought it would make a great birthday card.  I don't know why, but for this challenge and for the last one, I have used some really bright, primary colors!

I used Mojo Monday sketch 200 for my layout.  Papers are from Paper Pizzaz - Blue Atoms and solids are from JoAnn's.  Dies are from Spellbinders and the star punches are from Creative Memories.  The glossy star paper is from Best Occasions Shine Paper pad.  Ribbon is from my stash.  Embossing folder is Sizzix Large Dot.

To add some bling,  I used Scribbles 3D blue glitter glue and Glossy Accents on the rocket and used American Crafts Silver Metallic Marker to make the rocket's path shine.  The metallic marker was also used on the little stars on the word art from Create with TLC.

Hope you like my card.  Comments are always appreciated! :)

You're So Amazing from Verve stamps

Not specifically a love card, but can fit a number of uses, this card is the last of the hand cut flower cards from my K&C Cottage Company Garden paper pad.  The green stripe paper is from the same paper pad and the multi-striped paper is from K&C's Tim Coffey Fall paper pad.  The flower is lightly distressed on the petal edges with Ranger Spiced Marmalade ink.  Orange cardstock is from my stash.  I used a Verve stamp and A-La-Mode chocolate pigment ink heat embossed in clear embossing powder.  The off-white background paper is from either JoAnn's or Micheal's.  I used OWH sketch 74 for a layout design.

Vickey Morrisey Beautiful Blossoms Roses II

Super simple using an absolutely beautiful and favorite digital background paper from Vickey Morrisey's Beautiful Blssoms Roses II from Scrapbook Elements printed on Darice Pearls cardstock Pearly White and lightly distressed with a little ink pad from Micheal's or JoAnn's dollar bin.
